More than anything, I like making things and growing things; designing things and finding things. I like scientific things and internet things. I like Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce on everything. I am a geek through and through, but I have a confession. I like pretty things too…

The Science Faire is a brand based around what I feel is unexplored niche where geek and eco culture meets femininity. I use many mediums and methods, but I’m mainly interested in cross-pollinating technology, gardening and science with crafting. My designs always start with a hypothesis, and I experiment diligently to bring you the conclusive results!

As a self taught web designer, I have been creating graphics and websites for over 13 years and am proficient in HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL , WordPress and Drupal. I also specialize in creating logos, along with print and web graphics. I enjoy freelance design projects for small businesses, events, and fellow crafters to develop their brand identities and internet presence. I am able to do so nimbly, and at an affordable price thanks in part to my proficiency at using Linux operating systems and open source software for all my work.

I also engage in a gamut of event planning and low-budget do-gooder projects within the arts and crafts community. I’m founder and organizer of Strange Folk Festival, The Upcycle Exchange, and helped to coordinate the Rally to Restore Sanity at The Gateway Arch, Craft Con, O’Farmers Market and HoliDIY. As former head writer for Crafting a Green World, I explored topics on the environmental impact of crafting and gave related presentations at Craft Con, Maker Faire, and The Summit of Awesome in Washington D.C., as well as writing articles for publications such as Etsy Storque and Craft: Magazine Vol. 9.

In 2008, Strange Folk won a Riverfront Times BEST OF ST. LOUIS award, and in 2009 I received an EarthDance Mission Award for helping to create a vibrant, sustainable community for the arts. In 2010, I snagged a Riverfront Times Mastermind Award as well as another BEST OF ST. LOUIS for Upcycle Exchange. Recently, I was featured on ALIVE Magazine’s 2011 Buzz List of the 25 most influential people in St. Louis.

I also have been running art classes and camps for kids in my hometown for over 7 years now, as well as foodie-centric craft classes at Whole Foods in Brentwood, Mo. Currently, I teach the Indie Business Workshop at St. Louis Community College.

I reside on the outskirts of St. Louis, MO with my husband and two little boys, where I work out of a tranquil studio overlooking the countryside.
